Sent logs on the 5th of June, app still crashing. Moot point as I’m deleting the app, browser faster and easier when dealing with more than 1 photo, and it doesn’t handle multiple obs well at all
This has just recently started happening to me on iOS 26.5.2. I believe it is related to iOS RAW HEIC photos. I used to be able to select over 100 photos at a time to upload and group into multiple observations on the app, but now with RAW photos enabled, it has started limiting me to one or two photos at a time. If I upload more than one or two at a time, the upload crashes back to the main observations screen without any kind of warning. When I disable the ProRAW format, I can once again upload over 50 photos at a time without the crash! Just a little unfortunate that I can’t use the higher quality RAWs
Which device do you have? I just took four RAW photos with my iPhone 15 Pro (48 megapixels), imported them into the app, combined them into one observation, and was able to post them.
I’m not sure the quality makes much of a difference in most cases. RAW isn’t necessarily better looking, what it means is that more information is there, and you can edit it more without the image breaking down. Like you can adjust exposure, white balance, etc. But when the image is uploaded to iNat, it’s converted into a jpeg and resized so that its’ no more than 2048 megapixels on the longest edge. I suspect that if you’re not editing your photos before uploading, the quality difference is negligible.
I say this as someone who shoots RAW exclusively on my Nikon Z8, but I crop, edit exposure, etc. the photos I take with my Nikon. I don’t shoot RAW on my iPhone.
