App tells me already-synced observations are not synced

I noticed recently that after making observations & syncing them from my phone (using iNaturalist app), a couple days later the app tells me that the observation still needs to be uploaded. This does not happen with all observations, and I haven’t been able to find any reason or rhyme for which observations are affected.

Possibly relevant: today I updated my app & cleared the cache. Afterwards I noticed the problem got even worse! Now, after scrolling quite a ways down through my observations list, suddenly the app believes that dozens of my old observations are out-of-sync and need to be re-uploaded.

App version number: 1.24.0

Description of problem:

Step 1: Take photos with camera on phone

Step 2: From Gallery app, share photos with iNaturalist app to create a new observation

Step 3: Upload the observation

Step 4: Wait a few days (?)

Step 5: Open the app & look at the observation in “My Observations”

(Not sure that will help anyone else to reproduce the issue, but it’s what I have done to encounter the issue.)

Unfortunately I blew it off as a glitch at the time, so no screenshot available.
I probably would have noticed if I’d been making more observations recently.

Hi, i had similar problems, after renew to iNat version 1.24.2(514) problem went away

@bheberlein and @leptonia can you please send us log files from the app? To send log files, go to the About tab in the app and tap three times on the version number. You will then have the option to email the log files to us. @leptonia, please send a screnshot as well.

@tiwane I sent in some of my app logs. Hopefully that helps.

The first few times it happened I simply pressed ‘upload’ to re-sync the observations, but I am hesitant to mess anything up as most of the observation data is no longer cached on my phone. I didn’t think much of it when it first happened, so I am not sure which observations these were (the ones I re-synced) & I haven’t been able to verify whether they are still in good shape.

@katya So far I am not able to see this version in the Google store. Maybe it is not available for my device yet?

@bheberlein, sorry for late answer, forward you question to Support team:
on your device open iNaturalist mobile, go to Menu, select submenu About (it is lower Settings), then select Contact support and your will be able to sent them letter with your problem
