Screenshot unnecessary, it’s just the middle of the Pacific.

Enter Big Bear Lake, click on the one that is in San Bernardino, California, and you wind up directed to a patch of ocean in the Pacific.

Where did you enter “Big Bear Lake”? Because this is what I get when I type that into the search bar at the top of Explore:

the place appears to be defined in iNat as a single point. i’m not sure i would call this a bug exactly. the place just needs to be properly defined with polygon geometry. you could probably just flag the place and work with a curator to fix it.

here’s more discussion regarding single point places: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/acceptability-of-deleting-single-point-places/3840

I get the error as described by @earthknight if I type “Big Bear Lake” into the “Search” box at the top left of the home page (and then selecting the fourth option, which looks like it’s going to be the location Big Bear Lake in CA, USA), but the correct location if I type it into the “Location” box after hitting Explore.

I agree that this isn’t a bug per se - it’s just a poorly defined place. The place should be flagged and a curator can address it on iNat itself.
