That’s terrible!

No I did not, although one day (and one day ONLY thankfully) one of our chickens was kind of acting like a rooster.

You’re welcome! Thank you for being such a great friend.

Strutting around, showing her wings off, etc.

That’s typical for a miniature rebel. She wants to start her own nation away from rooster’s Soviet Union. Lol
Honestly, that’s not uncommon. She wants to take over.

Lots of birds have been observed to form same-sex pairs. It seems pretty common with water birds. I know ducks will do this (pairs of male mallards especially have been documented a few times) and I believe I read of female pairs of some species of marine bird who adopt eggs and raise the chicks together.

Not sure about galliformes, usually same sex mating I have observed in gamebirds has been for dominance. My male quail do this in the summer time. It’s interesting that you observed hens in this behaviour.

I don’t think it’s a mental illness, my guess is that, just like humans, birds are diverse and beautiful in their own ways :)

Has anyone seen wild turkeys (the bonus bird) today?

No, I have not been birding very much recently. It was been quite rainy the past little while.
