I was wondering if any other iPhone users where experiencing this and if so, how did you fixed it if you found the solution!
I tried reordering some photos within an already existing observation. I keep getting “bad request 400” when it tries to update after my edit…
I also tried adding a photo to an existing observation and I got the same error…
So I started doing tests to try and fix it. Closed and reopened the app, logged out and in again… deleted it, reinstalled it… rebooted my phone… No luck… And even worse now when I open the app on my phone I cannot go back to my first (oldest) observation… It still say I have 882 observations but wont let me go back further than 5 months ago (my 882 observations are over the course of 6 years or so)… New observations are being added without problems though, syncing all good.
I have an old phone and maybe my IOS is now too old?
If you know the number of the last supported IOS for inat let me know! Or any other tricks i can try!
My partner has been seeing the “Bad Request (400)” errors the last day or so as well. And she is running iOS 17 on an iPhone 14 Pro Max, so perhaps the issue isn’t too old of an iPhone / iOS version here.
Nice that’s good to know!
Sorry it’s happening to your partner too though!
I’ll be sure to update this thread if I ever try something that fix it… etc!
So I was in contact via emails with Tony and he recommanded the new soft-launched app version of Inaturalist, I naturalist-next! I downloaded it and my old phone can run it (woohoo!) and on this version I can edit pics order or add new pics without errors! (bonus I can also see all my observations there)
Pretty happy about that!
Maybe I’ll continue adding my new observation with the old app and edit with the new for the time being hahaha!
Probably it will be fine on your partner newer Iphone too! Worth a test! @goobersmash
I can replicate this on my iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 18, so it’s not just happening on older devices. Although it’s only happening if I try to reorder or remove a photo from an existing observation. I tried adding a photo to an existing observation and it worked fine for me.
