Changing Pinned Location Names

Is there any way to change the name (called the “Locality Notes”) of a pinned location. I named mine after the specific locality, but I want to add in state/county information to make things easier for reviewers. There doesn’t seem to be an “update” button anywhere and I’d rather not make all new locations for things and create duplicates.

Can the locality list be managed from anywhere?

Yes, I’d love to be able to have the option to edit my pinned locality names! I have not found a way to do this…

Yeah, I’m anticipating this will be turned into a Feature Request.

Nope. The only current option is to delete an existing pinned location and make a new one. It won’t affect any of your existing observations. Pinned Locations are just presets for the lat. / lon. / acc. / locality notes fields.

Only from the location chooser at https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/upload

Thank you! I thought that might be the case. Do you know if it’s possible to batch edit the pre-existing locality notes so I can add some more specifics to them? I looked around but couldn’t find anything. I could have sworn I’d done it before.

There isn’t a good way, but you can go to https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/edgarallenhoopoe, fiddle with your filters until you see the observations you want to edit as a batch on the page, click “Batch Edit” at the top, select the obs you want to edit, and click “Edit Selected” to get to an ancient batch editing interface that was originally coded on stone tablets minutes before a great flood covered the known world.

That’s what I was looking for. Thanks again for the help!
