Clarification on flaggable content message

The new message on flags visible to curators reads

The flaggable content is the primary text attribute of the flagged object at the time the flag was created. Only curators and staff can see this. Only staff can see this for messages.

Can staff please clarify the last sentence. We have always been told the message function is totally private and can not be read even by staff. This is either poorly worded or suggests that is not the case.

Staff can read messages. https://github.com/inaturalist/inaturalist/issues/2352 I don’t remember hearing otherwise.

I used to think they were private, which I’d told @cmcheatle in the past, that was my fault. I since replied on one flag that cmcheatle responded to. We also added clarification in our Privacy Policy and discussed it on our Privacy Policy update blog post: https://www.inaturalist.org/blog/29340-updates-to-privacy-policy-and-terms-of-service
