Confusing new change

Okay, I can deal with the change in the reply window not to show the preview. But it really threw me for a loop that copy-and-pasting an image now only creates a link to the observation. I just spent several minutes trying to figure out how to make it show up as an image like it used to. Was this implemented in response to earlier discussions about the expense of having images on the Forums?

No, this was a change made by Discourse, see https://meta.discourse.org/t/introducing-our-new-composer-making-writing-on-discourse-easier-than-ever/369779

If you want to switch back, there is a toggle in the composer

Well, that lets me see the full-width composer with preview, but doesn’t affect the link appearing instead of the image - at least not in a post already made. But by re-pasting the image, it reverted to what I expected. Thank you.

I don’t know how you’re pasting it in, but it’s definitely still possible to paste in observation images (this one is from https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/301979194)

You commented while I was editing. The reversion isn’t retroactive. I had to re-paste thr image to get that part.

i noticed the changes, too. it’s doing all sorts of unexpected stuff to my markup and URLs. i hope the Discourse folks fix whatever they did.

Beautiful photo by the way!

I don’t mind the smaller composer in itself. I’ll revert if I want to include an image, and use the new one otherwise.
