About a month ago, I was curating some mammal taxonomy, and there was some discourse between authorities. Specifically, a subspecies was listed as a synonym of Species A in MSW3, but it was labeled under Species B in our taxonomic authority MDD. The latter doesn’t curate subspecies, so no subspecific taxonomy is managed under a framework. I found a paper published after MSW3 that supports subspeciation under Species B, and I thought it would be nice to link that to taxonomic notes, but as far as I know, this cannot be added for a taxon not covered by a framework. Any suggestions or loopholes.
I think you’d edit the species rank taxon framework relationship to add the subspecies as additional internal taxa, then use the notes there to link to whatever flag/discussion/sources. (or does that give an error for mammals?)
