https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/83105320 - a value was added for the “Life Stage” attribute, but in the notification, it says it was added for “Sex”:
Currently no notifications are generated when annotations are added to an observation, only new observation fields generate notifications. I think it was the addition of this observation field (which was added by tony_steer) that generated the notification, so I don’t think there’s a bug here.
Ah, ok. That makes sense now. It’s a bit confusing though. It should be something like “x added a new observation field to an observation…”.
