Error message: Latitude can't be blank, Longitude can't be blank, File was invalid or did not contain any polygons, Place geometry can't be blank

I made a bondary line map (KML) with google earth. It worked fine in google maps, but when I tried to add the file to inaturaqlist, I get the following error “There were problems importing that place: Latitude can’t be blank, Longitude can’t be blank, File was invalid or did not contain any polygons, Place geometry can’t be blank”

Did you use the Polygon tool in Google Earth?

Welcome to the forum! Did you try opening the file in a program that can show you the text? I had this issue and fixing that worked for me:

I think replace old coordinates with the new ones a good idea. How and where did you get your old one though? Thanks!

I used the tool next to polygon to draw the lines.

You’ll want to use the polygon tool in the future.

I downloaded one from an existing iNat place, but there’s lots of others you could get online I’m sure.

following the instructions from a tutorial in the fourm, here’s an example of a link that will give you the KML file for Central Park in NY, as defined in iNaturalist: https://www.inaturalist.org/places/geometry/central-park-ny-us.kml

Hi, I tried using polgon and the map worked!
Thanks!
