Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.):
Step 1: Create a list of favourite taxa for display on profile page, noting the locale setting used to make it and the resulting name of the list
Step 2: Change language/locale under account settings to a language where the name of the “Favorites” list is translated and different. If the two languages have the same word for the list the issue does not seem to occur (e.g. Danish and Norwegian Bokmål)
Step 3: Observe how the previously made favourite list is no longer displayed on the profile page
Supplement: this applies to profile pages of everyone, not just yourself, e.g. the favourite list of https://www.inaturalist.org/people/andreas_berger, made with German locale displays on that page when choosing German locale but not with e.g. Danish or English
I failed to reproduce this on macOS 14.0 using Safari 17.0. I changed my language/locale in account settings from English to Español (México). Visiting the Profile (now Perfil) page, my favorite taxa still appear at the bottom of the page under “Grupos de especies (taxa) favoritos”. Maybe I’m missing a step?
Trying this I cannot reproduce with this language pair either - English-created favourite lists still display to me as well with Español (México) as the language setting despite the names of the lists created with these languages seemingly being different. I still cannot see lists made with Danish, German or French locale with this setting though.
Yes, doing this makes my own list of favourites reappear on my own profile page so it seems part of the problem has been recognised before. However the issue is more general than what is reported in that old report, as it also means very many other people’s favourite lists do not display correctly not just one’s own.
