Going through notifications is annoyingly slow

Platform (Android, iOS, Website):
Ios 18.4.1 iPhone SE

App version number, if a mobile app issue (shown under Settings or About):
103(163)

Description of problem:

Step 1:
Browsing through my notifications
Step 2:
Select a new one
Step 3:
Wait until the screen shows the last ID

Preceding with tapping on the bell button

Overlay the last days I synchronized my backlog of some 300 observations down to nothing left to do
However, going through the notifications is annoying slow. I will send a screen recording

lol, agreed, it is a bit tedious on the Android app as well. I wish there was a “clear all notifications” button. it’s easy enough to log in on a desktop browser and clear notifications that way, but still, an easy “clear all” option on the mobile apps would be much appreciated.

wouldn’t this be more of a feature request post though? since I don’t think this is a bug per se. just how the app is designed to work.

omg I totally agreeeeeee! I feel like there should be a open ticket system rather than notifications.

I have the habit to look into every notification. I avoid to do it in the browser to be able to check them one by one. I would not suggest a feature to clear all at once.

I mean, just because the feature exists doesn’t mean you must use it. The option would be great for those of us who want it! I wouldn’t want to force it on anyone.

Notification management remains an issue.

The 2 new options are not useful to me.

I would like to Mark as Read or Keep Unread. (I use Unsubscribe or Unfollow)
I would like to be able to return to where I got to yesterday  I wish I could, instead of clearing ‘this batch NOW’.
I would like ONE notification - there was engagement on this obs - I don’t need each, ID, withdrawn, added again, comment, @mention to generate another notification. And all neatly in time sequence (and somehow around midnight - iNat trips over yesterday, and tucks some of today’s in yesterday) - seen that, done that, sigh.

I totally agree, ONE notification per observation would be most helpful and time saving.

I just intended to discuss the performance of the existing feature rather than discussing other improvements in this thread and the bug channel in general.

Fair enough! I think I misinterpreted the nature of your original complaint, honestly. I’ll stay mum from here on out on this thread.
