I’ve heard of gatherings organized on bugguide and iNaturalist before, but nothing conference-style like this? Would you attend if you had the chance?

If I had the chance…yes! It would be real challenge as I am an early morning riser. My dad grew up around that area, it’s beautiful. I’d love to visit it as an adult.
I would jump at an opportunity to go to an event like that! I used to help run a Bug Camp every summer with Mississippi State University, and nothing beats having several days to just collect and observe critters
If you want to read about Mothapalooza by a nature writer who went there:
“Night Magic: Adventures Among Glowworms, Moon Gardens, and Other Marvels of the Dark” by Leigh Ann Henion. (published in 2024)
I live i northeast Ohio. I like moths, but not enough to attend this event. But, I have been curious about it. The chapter in this book gave me some idea about what it’s about. I thought the other chapters were very good, too.
I wish we had these ![]()
