I’m assuming this is a similar bug – if you go to highlight the taxon name in the Suggestions tab of the Identify Modal and release outside the drop-down, the whole modal closes.
(moved this to a different topic since the original one looks fixed).
I can replicate this in Chrome, but not Firefox. Made an issue here: https://github.com/inaturalist/inaturalist/issues/2545

You can read the reply on GitHub, but in short the likely rarity of this bug is probably not worth the amount of work it would take to fix.
