Hitting Esc with suggestions list showing in Identify panel leaves orphaned suggestions list

I see this on Safari 12.1.1 on macOS Mojave 10.14.5. I have not tried other browsers.

  1. Bring up the Identify panel
  2. Click Add ID so an ID field + comment field appears
  3. Type a character or three in the ID field so a list of suggestions appears
  4. Hit the Esc key on the keyboard

The Identify panel disappears, but the list of suggestions does not. It hangs around even if you bring the Identify panel back up again, and is in the way in that case. Reloading the page will fix it.

This does not happen if you close the Identify panel in step 4 by clicking the X in the upper-right corner.

Just tested on Chrome on same version of macOS. The bug does not happen there – the suggestions list disappears along with the Identify panel after step 4.

I think there were some changes to the taxon dropdown/suggestions list – does this still happen in Safari?

Yes, still happens in latest Safari (13.0.4) on latest macOS (10.15.2).
