How do I create a list of observations from one location (without having to list all the taxa)?

The majority of my observations are from one location, but a few hundred are from elsewhere. Is there a way to create a list with observations from the one location without having to type in all the taxa from that location (and if I type in the taxa, I get observations from those taxa from other places as well, so it doesn’t really work).

This will work if on your Observations page, you can zoom into your wanted area AND use the rectangle or circle tool to include all the wanted obs. Then click on the Filters button, and at the very bottom right there is a download button. Click on that. Point 3 is the important one where you decide what columns you want to include in your download.

If you cannot isolate them with the circle or rectangle, it is beyond me describing to you. I expect you would have to make a place for your area of concern.

I assume you want to isolate your observations from Ontario/NE USA from the ones in SW USA.

You can navigate to your observations and use the circle/rectangle options in the “Map” view, then go to grid or list to see the observations once you filtered them. I took the liberty of trying that for you, here is the list for SW and here is the list for Ontario/NE USA. Here’s a third one for the ones in Costa Rica.

Alternatively, you can create a personal project that filters all observations only from your user, from any taxa, and only from specific locations, and there list just Ontario (and the few USA provinces limiting it where you made observations) and if you want, another one that has the whole world except Ontario and those provinces for the rest.

Thank you, this is very helpful. Once I have that filtered list on my screen, how do I turn that into a list that people can click on? So not just a list on my page, but also a specific list under my profile?

Thanks, Ruth. I tried this but the download was too large. But thanks for the tip on how to zoom into my wanted area; I had not tried that before.

Copy the URL and paste it in your profile. That should load the area with your observations.

You are welcome @sylviakeesmaat. I have learnt so many useful tips from forum posts.
