Here’s a list of iNat updates for April 2025.
General
- iNaturalist welcomed our new Senior Communications Manager: Arya Natarajan (@seastarya)! She’s taken over Observation of the Day duties, and is making some awesome fun videos for our social media feeds, among many other things. Welcome aboard, Arya!
- Full release of new iNaturalist app for iPhones! We’re continuing to upate the app: for example the Explore screen should now default to the map in version 1.0.2.
- The 2025 City Nature Challenge happened, check out results here!
- A new Computer Vision model was released! The model now includes over 101k taxa.
- Two new notifications preferences are now available in your Account Settings!
- Continued work on API v2 - curators can test it and provide feedback, see this topic
- Many additional translations throughout the websites and apps - you can help

Various small bug fixes and changes, such as:
- long lists on project page are now collapsed by default
- added link to observations in taxon swap notifications
Android
- No new release.
New iNaturalist App (currently iPhone only)
Released version 1.0.0! Please provide feedback in the in-app feedback form.
Legacy iOS & iPadOS
- Version 3.3.7 released, name updated to “iNaturalist Classic”
