I knew it used to be a feature on very, very early iterations of the iNaturalist app, where you’d select some basic taxonomic group to place observations under a large, kingdom-level identification. I’ve realized that when I want to be taking quick observations on a hiking trip, I don’t have the time to type out Tracheophyta (even though it’s a phylum as opposed to a kingdom) and it takes me a while after uploading all the observations to go back and label everything as a vascular plant (if I’m not sure what the ID is). I’m wondering if basic ID buttons could be introduced again, maybe as a placeholder if the phone is offline and cannot load CV suggestions.

I’m for it, but it’s a no go team-wise so I’m closing the request.
