Observations of species in the wild seem to be more important for Inat. Is it a good idea to add a bit of difficulty for more important observations when adding observation records? This could help avoid confusion for professionals investigating wild distributions by observations carelessly left the checkbox unchecked by default. Maybe this problem is also related to ios app.
That is a fair point, but I would argue no, as the majority of inat posts are in fact wild and this would result is many valid wild observations being marked as casual due to people forgetting to uncheck the box. I would probably often end up forgetting to uncheck it myself tbh
That also makes a lot of sense.
As it’s not arbitrarily designated, it’s based on location and species based observation data, I’m perfectly fine with it being automatically applied.
It’s easy enough to correct it when it’s made a mistake.
In all honesty, I spent a lot more time marking things as ‘captive/cultivated’ than correcting ones mistakenly marked as such.
Not marking them as ‘captive//cultivated’ is a much larger and widespread problem.
To keep the last checking status might also be considered, I think.
