Is the Canadian missing species list going to become a project?

I currently live in Canada so the release of the Canadian missing species list is very exciting for me, especially the 10k missing insects! I’m just wondering how best to navigate this during the upcoming summer. My vague plan at the moment is to just get as familiar as i can with some of the missing flies that I might be able to spot but obviously since there are so many insects on the list it’s going to be difficult to find and remember them.
I looked through the projects yesterday and didn’t see any pertaining to this, so I’m wondering if it’s going to be added as an official project? I have a friend who recognized a moth off the list already and he’s looking into getting the photos so the observation can be added to inat but it would be cool if there was some way to compare your observations to the list (if there is, i’m not aware of how so that would be great if anyone knows!). I think the structure for a project like this is already in the site because i’ve joined the nhic rare species of ontario project which has a list of the species to compare with your observations.

Very excited for this list overall and if anyone has more ideas about it I’d love to hear!

Projects of this type have to be made by someone, so you might ask the creators of the project you referenced if they have an interest in setting up a similar project for the “missing species list”.

the list came from the inat blog, so i thought it came directly from inat, is that wrong?

The iNat team may have put together the list to encourage more observations, but making a project around that list would take additional work, and as far as I can tell, they mostly leave project construction to the rest of the iNat community.

Ok cool, thx for the insight! Do u know who I should contact about making a project like this? Sorry I’m trying to get more involved with iNat but I don’t really know the protocol yet. Is it something I can just make myself, or should it go through some more official channels?

as suggested above, talk to those organisers. You can do it yourself (but better to have a small team as admin).
Either way, wait until the dust has settled from the City Nature Challenge.

Oh, my bad I interpreted “the project you referenced” as the missing species list. I will contact them in a few weeks! Thanks.
