I’m just wondering whether a participant in a region participating in the Great Southern Bioblitz needs to join the specific region’s project or whether just joining the 2025 Umbrella would work?
Will just joining the Umbrella apply their observations to the right region’s project?
You don’t necessarily have to join any of the projects, because they are collection projects that will collect any observations made in the particular area over the course of the GSB. They don’t only collect observations by members. So if you make observations in an area covered by a project, your observation will be added to that project whether you are a member or not. (Although the observations won’t have the region’s badge on them unless you join the project.)
I have a related question - I find that I will be in an area NOT covered by a project for most of the GSB period, so I’m not sure what will happen to my observations.
