@jwidness @pisum another bizarre notification bug for me
I just got this notification 3 minutes ago for an observation where I’d been tagged in the description 5 months ago
My initial thought was it was the same bug as above, where someone else had come along and added a new confirming ID and it’s still given me a notification for some reason.
Now in this case I am following the observation as I added an ID, but the last activity on this observation was 5 months ago! And I got a notification just now??

This time it wasn’t trigger by a new ID, it was triggered by a new fave:
Just experienced this recently, over the past couple days I’ve gotten around 10 tag notifications from observation descriptions from over 2 years ago.
did the user make any edits to the observation?
Yeah, they were adjusting the locations on all of them.
That’s expected behavior based on what staff have said about how notifications are stored in the system, pretty sure.
Oh yeah, higher up in this topic:
Mentions only exist as updates, and updates get erased after about 3 months or so. So when a record with a mention gets saved, iNat looks to see if that user has already been updated about it, and if there’s no update, it makes a new one
