A curatorial assistant at California Academy of Sciences, Dept. of Ornithology and Mammalogy corrected one of my pinniped IDs once and I was so embarrassed I have now attempted to teach myself the difference between all 4 of California’s eared seal species. She regularly reviews any and all pinniped observations and I’d like to think she sees me getting things right.
