"Next" button on default image selection window takes one to a blank screen with no way back

A minor bug, but one I run into constantly (I often edit the images for a taxon).
Go to https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/592477-Prismatocarpus-diffusus click on Curation> Edit photos.
Then scroll through two pages of the image browser using the ‘next’ button until you get to a blank page. Notice that blank page has no ‘previous’ button. So the bug is either that the final page lacks a ‘previous’ button, or there should not be a ‘next’ button that takes one to a blank page (preferable solution).
I’m on Windows 7, happens both on Chrome Version 78.0.3904.108. and FF 71

Yes, I have encountered this too.

I think this bug hides something else.

Sometimes the same picture appears several times in successive photos pages, and it is not the result of duplicated observations that would contain several times the same picture.

There is something wrong when collecting and/or displaying the pictures, besides the empty last page issue.

I think it is worth mentioning it in the github bug report.

My example in the first post no longer works, perhaps because new obs have been added, or perhaps because the bug has been fixed. I’ve just tested it on 10 taxa and the bug never happened. So perhaps this has been fixed?
If anyone comes across the bug, comment here with a link to the taxon.

Looks like @pleary fixed it: https://github.com/inaturalist/inaturalist/issues/2507

Good work, thanks @pleary
Do we mark this as solved?

The code has been committed but not yet deployed, so the fix isn’t live on the website right now. We’ll get that deployed later today

One more issue that might be related? If not, we can move to another thread. I’ve found that the image selection only works for a certain portion of the images when a taxon has many many images. For example, eastern gray squirrel has 40000 observations, but I only got about 30 pages of images to choose from before it says that’s it.

This issue is detailed here - https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/no-photos-available-on-taxon-page-photo-editor-but-there-are-several-observations/7197

I’m not sure that’s the same problem. There are definitely some photos showing up, it just stops loading after a number of pages even though there are clearly more available.

Even if they solved the issue you refer to, for taxa with a very large number of images, you are better off searching for images in the image browser and then pasting the obs number in the taxon photo editor’s search box. At the very least, this can act as a work around.
