Numbers of observations in Taxonomy

No idea if this is a bug, but I have a question concerning the numbers of observations in the Taxonomy.
Here is an example: If you check out the numbers of sightings for the Red-tailed Hawk and you check the numbers under Genus Buteo, there are right now 283765 observations for the Red-tailed Hawk, but if you click now on the Red-tailed Hawk, a new page opens and you see all the subspecies of the Red-tailed Hawk. BUT the observation numbers are not adding up to the observations from the previous page, there are only ~15000 observations. Where are all the other observations? Thank you.

The rest are observations not assigned to any particular subspecies, compare https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?lrank=species&taxon_id=5212 for only species level observations

Maybe there is the possibility to add the numbers of the observations for species level as well.
