One specific species doesn't show up when trying to ID

Description of problem:

Step 1: I try to add an ID for this specific species (Blaps megalatlantica), but the name does not show up, even though it is present in the inat database with several observations already.

Step 2: Other people apparently can successfully add the ID.

Step 3: I can then click agree and the ID will show up, but when I manually try to add the ID by typing the name, it still does not show up.

I only experience this problem for this specific species (Blaps megalatlantica), regardless of the observation. Whenever/wherever I enter the name, it simply doesn’t show up.

The scientific name got set to just the epithet rather than the binomial. If you type just the epithet into the search iNat will find it:

You can flag the taxon for a more permanent fix.

If you click ‘External’ it does come up.
But - flag for curation

I’ve fixed it, and for me it is now searchable using the binomial :)
