Description of problem:

Step 1: Add a new or view an existing Class Pinopsida (Conifers) observation by any user.

Step 2: Annotations section does not have the option for Flowers or Fruits, just Leaves and Sex. Flowers and Fruits is also not an option for any Conifer charts.

Step 3:

since these plants don’t produce true flower / fruits, it seems intentional to not provide an annotation for flowers / fruits. doesn’t seem like a bug.

I figured there had to be a technical reason for that. I know lots of people are tracking frugivory for migratory birds, and the Juniper berries I saw this week in New Mexico seemed like a really important one to annotate.

Conifer cones are not considered flowers, fruits, or seeds by iNaturalist.

it would be interesting if they generalized flowering / fruiting into something like “reproductive phase”, with subcategories of flowering, fruiting, cone development, sporophyte, gametophyte, etc… could be a feature request?

It would be nice to have some kind of annotation for conifers. Feeling pretty embarrassed about reporting a bug for it.

We would like cones. It is first on the list. Back to March 2019

Junipers and other conifers do not produce flowers or berries, but they do produce seeds, and that should be annotatable. So should cones.
