Poll: How old are you?

We have some teenage users who have recently joined, and are quite active on the forum. It might help with empathy and compassion if you remember that you might be talking to someone who could be your kid or your grandkid. Wouldn’t you want to encourage them and support them? So let’s find out how old you are!

  • I’m 13 to 19 (I’m a teenager . . . or maybe even younger with parental consent?)
  • I’m in my 20’s
  • I’m in my 30’s
  • I’m in my 40’s
  • I’m in my 50’s
  • I’m in my 60’s
  • I’m in my 70’s
  • I’m in my 80’s
  • I’m in my 90’s

I am confused by this statement:

Are you perceiving an overall tone which you think indicates a lack of kindness and attributing this to (one way) age intolerance?

I admit I have not been very present on the Forum recently ( :musical_note:This is the moooove that never eeends… :notes:), but I have not noticed any tone, nor would that be my first thought if I did, given the high regard in which a great many of the younger Members are held.

No, but if you’re having a difference of opinion with someone, and then you realize how young they are, you might be a bit less aggressive or assertive, and more nurturing and educational. I think this forum IS already a relatively kind place, but the world can always use more kindness!

Hey @AdamWargon, I feel a bit uncomfortable that the poll results are public and that everyone can see what age each person is. For example this could be used as a list of teenagers to contact. Open to others’ thoughts.

I noticed that too (public results). Is there a way to build a poll with anonymous voting?

When you create the poll you have to turn off the toggle that says “show who voted”.

General you, I hope.

Some persons are young, some persons are old, some persons have neurological difference or anxiety or other concerns, some persons live in countries undergoing upheaval, some persons live in personal circumstances beyond the pale that they do not deserve. Nobody is more deserving of kindness or nurturing or education than any other.

Some people here have flatter affects, some are very detail oriented, some have better English. And sometimes people have days they feel like providing long responses and other days when they do not, and that is all OK.

I think the Moderators and Staff do a fine job of keeping tone on track, as needed.

Give me a minute — I will delete and re-post. I’m not allowed to edit a post after five minutes have elapsed. I DID see how to change it (always public = false)

I’m not allowed to delete my own topic? @bouteloua, can you hide this post so I can copy it with the new settings, but no one can see this original version?

Maybe the younger ones should also remember their grandparents are here.

Jan, you should comment in the other thread, because this one was unlisted, because I accidentally had it set to show who voted.

Saw that part a bit late!
