Post-dated photos on android app

Having a technical issue on the android app which I’m not certain is a bug.

I often will wind up doing some field work one day, and then upload micrographs the next day so my photo times don’t always match even if it’s the same specimen. 2/3rds of the time this seems to present no issue but quite a significant amount of the time I wind up with this error message:

“Your observation was created (and submitted) on 25 May 2025 at 12:14:07pm but you’re trying to set an observation date that is later than 25 May 2025 05:28:32pm”

Why would this happen for some of my not-the-same-day photos but not others? If it was some issue with syncing, or time logs I would expect uploading additional photos to be an issue 100% of the time or 0% of the time. Different posting success rates for different observations seems beyond my understanding.

Are you doing any editing (such as cropping) to the photos with the incorrect time? I’ve very recently had problems where Android is changing the time of the edited photo to be the UTC time at the time of edit, but interpreted as the local time.

For example, since I’m in US Eastern time zone, if I cropped a photo now at 7:30 pm, it is 11:30 pm in UTC, so I would have a time of 11:30 pm Eastern shown up as the photo time.

Good thought, but I’m not making any intentional edits. I usually only edit photos to post on social media when the file size is too big, or i’m attempting to circle/highlight a feature.
