Searching/filtering 'unknown species' on Android app

Hi,

I searched this question and found some answers from a few years ago, but the interface is different now so it didn’t work. Is there a way to search ‘unknown species’ on the Android app, so I can add at least high-level identification e.g. to kingdom.

Thanks

I do this on my Android app all the time to id some unknowns when I have a few minutes spare

  • Go to the Explore page and set the location you want.
  • In the top right corner of the explore page tap the three horizontal lines icon next to the search icon. This will take you to ‘filters’.
  • At the top of the filters page is a line of taxon icons for plants, fish, mammals etc. Swipe right on the line to scroll through all the options, the unknown icon is the furthest to the right next to the icon for arachnids.
  • Hit apply filters at the bottom of the filter page and you will have all the unknowns for that location on your android app.

In addition, I usually deselect ‘research grade’ and change the sort by from ‘date added’ to ‘random’.

Good luck and happy identifying!

Thanks so much! I was being a bit silly and looking at the list of taxa that appears when you hit the search magnifying glass. Hadn’t realised that the taxa list in the filter menu was a bit different.
