I’m aware that iNaturalist records automatically send to iRecord, however I was wondering if it’s worth while posting iRecord records onto iNaturalist as it doesn’t appear iRecord records are sent to iNaturalist.
As a note to others, this is a UK-specific question.
You are correct that the traffic is one way from iNaturalist to iRecord. If you record on iNaturalist the record is sent to iRecord once it reaches research grade. NBN advise that you do not record in both locations because when the iNat record is transferred to iRecord it really just creates duplicate records that need to be sifted out. iNatUK is backed by the National Biodiversity Network (NBN), and they have a blog post that discusses this, as well as other matters that help iNat observations translate best to iRecord.
In general though, things you put on iNat will also end up on iRecord so you don’t need to record on iRecord separately, it’s just a matter of how long they take to reach research grade (but sometimes iRecord observations are very slow to get attention anyway - depends on the taxon). You can also log into iRecord and see the observations that have carried through.
On the specific point about adding things to iNat that you have already put on iRecord, I would be inclined not to unless you discuss it with the iRecord verifiers first so they know what’s coming - especially if it’s a large amount. I’m very happy to say more if you want more specific thoughts.
