Square with letter. Some without one

When I click “Your Observations” and then “Species”, I see a list of species that I have uploaded displayed in Grid view. Most have a square in the upper right corner. But, some do not. The green square with an “N” appears to indicate that the species is native to the U.S. A pink square with “I” indicates that it was introduced. When you click on the photo or species name, the species page opens, and that (“native” or “introduced”) is shown on the top of the page. But, some species that I know are native to the U.S. don’t have any square and no note on top of the species page. See screenshot. Why don’t some species have that square or text?

because these establishment means have to be manually added by someone, they aren’t automatic. So if one is missing for a species, it’s simply because noone has added it yet for that species for that particular place checklist.

Does a curator have to make that addition? There doesn’t appear to be a place to add that on the Species page under any of the tabs (for me and average user).

There’s nothing in the “Establishment Means” area either. But, I noticed that the “Establishment Means” lists is different for each species. Some have a lot of entries. Some don’t have many.

This is the list for the Unicorn Clubtail. It only has a few listings. A species like the Tiger Swallowtail butterfly has a lot more. The butterfly’s list has the U.S. and individual states.

no, any user can do it

it’s not done on species pages, it’s done via checklist pages. Eg here’s the checklist for the United States: https://www.inaturalist.org/check_lists/299-United-States-Check-List. So at that link you would search for eg Eastern Red Damsel, and then add the status as appropriate
