The Identify page and the Observation page show two different things: no audio file and an existing audio file

Website - Identify / Observation pages.

I sorted the observations that need identifying to show the older ones first. I ran into a number of these.

I filtered for “has sounds” and “needs ID”.

If I view an observation by clicking on it in the Identify page, the pop-up window shows that there isn’t a track.

If close that observation pop-up window, right-click on the observation on the Identify page, a new browser window opens with that observation. And, there’s an audio file that I can play.

I don’t know if this has to do with Soundcloud files. The audio observations I ran into with this seem to be all Soundcloud files in the Identify pop-up window. Sorting to see the older observations seemed to bring up a lot of Soundcloud files.

You can see and play audio files in Identify, there’s even a keyboard shortcut for it. I suspect the issue is that these are really old sounds from back when we didn’t support direct sound upload, we just had people link to SoundCloud. At some point we ingested all the linked sounds from SoundCloud, but perhaps something glitched on some of the sounds and caused this.
