Video uploading bug

Description of problem:

Step 1: I want to upload a video (gif format) of 9,2 MB size.

Step 2: I click on add button and in the Files app, I click on the video.

Step 3: It afterward shows a loading icon (screenshot), but after some time, it disappears without adding the video to the website.

The same happens even when I try to add the video through observation edit page. I am trying to add it for three days.

I don’t think there has ever been official support for GIFs so I’m not sure this is a bug.

GIFs are allowed, but not officially supported, see

That’s interesting, I have successfully uploaded some GIF videos before.

Generally, if you shrink the file size (for example, with lossy gif compression, reducing number of frames per second, or reducing colors) it will work. And it’s good practice to always keep the static images in the observation as well, just in case.

I edited the length of the video a little, and then it worked! Thank you so much!
