Web uploader: auto ID from photo data adding inactive taxon

not sure if this is the proper place to post this, but i saw that previous threads on this subject had been merged into this one, i’ll make an additional note:

I uploaded a photo with ‘copperhead’ in the filename, and the species name field was filled automatically. I didn’t notice the lack of photographic icon and when I published the observation it was attached to an inactive taxon.

I tried again and the same thing happened, though clicking on the species name field produce a drop-down with the two taxa that were split from the original. Here’s a screenshot, the first observation is after I clicked on the drop-down menu, the second is immediately after dragging the image onto the upload page (with the inactive taxon selected).

Are you able to share that photo with help@inaturalist.org? Please make sure its metadata are intact.

(moved this to a new topic)

OK, this has been fixed. A file with copperhead in it will no longer trigger an auto ID for me, but common garter snake will.
