A year or so ago my mum bought a display case that had insects in it. I was looking at all of the scientific names and then searching them because I was just interested & I got to this what I describe as a cicada. It has the scientific name “Cpytotymtan Aquila” which I searched on Inat & nothing showed up. Even on google! Is this a real species?
It’s just misspelled. The name should be Cryptotympana aquila, which is a real cicada.

I am sure that was an accidental misspelling of the species Cryptotympana aquila.
See here:

And note that species names should always start with a lower case letter.

By the way, crypto tympana means hidden drum.
