When Exploring, the map should stay at zoom resolution

I’ve been testing the Explore mode in the new app. I narrowed a search to my county and then one subfamily of moths. After switching to Map view (as opposed to list or gallery), then: (1) manually Zoom in closer to any area to be able to select and examine an individual observation; (2) after viewing the observation, click the return arrow in the upper left. The map snaps back to the full view of the selected (county) place, not the zoomed area. This then requires re-zooming to examine any/every single observation. Very inconvenient. I would prefer that the level of my chosen map zoom be “sticky”.

I see that this has been a long-standing Feature Request in a number of other posts.

How do you get the map in explore mode? I was only finding the species or observation lists.

On “explore observations” there is a menu with 3 options on the bottom left. The rightmost of them is the map view.

The menu isn’t there when looking at species.

Yes, I was a little confused on how to get to the map view as well. Thanks!

thanks! i did find it but i think it should be easier to find eventually. It’s pretty hidden and is one of the best parts of the app. I actually wish the app had a ‘quest mode’ type thing that let you see the map while you were exploring, see all existing observations and also your observations you haven’t uploaded yet. (The very oldest form of the app let you see observations you haven’t uploaded yet and i really liked that feature). But maybe that’s too divergent from the intent of the app these days.

We have an issue for this! Thanks for catching it.
