Add default taxon preference

Add a field in the user preferences to specify default taxon for filtering displayed records when logging in, analogous to the region filter.

Platform(s), such as mobile, website, API, other:

URLs (aka web addresses) of any pages, if relevant:

Description of need:
Describe the iNaturalist community need that your requested feature addresses. Include screenshots, URLs, and other details to help us all understand the issue.

Feature request details:
In detail, describe the feature you are requesting. This includes its functionality, where the feature is implemented, and what it might look like. Screenshots or mock-ups are helpful. The idea is to have a concrete and actionable request which the community can discuss and vote on. It might change through discussion, but it’s much easier to iterate and talk about something specific.

Great idea!

I’m not against this idea (it could be useful for logging in from new devices, for example if someone only has internet access from a library computer) but I already do functionally the same thing just by creating a desktop shortcut on my phone.

For example I filtered to needs ID plants, fungi, and unknowns in my level four eco-region, then set a shortcut. Clicking on that icon then automatically brings me to the latest observations that fall within those filters.

I have a separate shortcut that covers more taxa and includes research grade, but filtered to a much smaller local area, so I can keep track of cool stuff seen nearby.

Just a useful runaround you may not be aware of.
