I too am seeing issues with photos.
I usually post from my Pixel 2 phone. I open the photo, press the share icon, and select iNaturalist.
I fill in the information I have, and press the check mark.
I see the post, with thumbnail photo, listed in my queue to sync.
Next day, I see the post in my Observations list without a thumbnail photo, although oddly enough, when I open the post from the list, it does display the photo.
At the same time, I get an Unidentified species observation containing no information.
This seems like a sync issue.
