Description of problem:

Step 1: Paste any number of photos on the upload page.

Step 2: Attempt to drag a photo (before or after metadata is loaded)

Step 3: The page slightly fades out in opacity, as normal. This is normally where it restores opacity back to 100% and then lets you drag the photo around. However, currently, this causes the page to be frozen and it cannot be interacted with in any way, not even right click, or a refresh without using an outside method (e.g. keyboard).

Step 2 (alternative): if the page is tabbed out, sometimes the same error occurs without dragging any images.

This page is freezing in the state where ordinarily, the site would let you “move” a photo onto another. Except instead of showing the photo visually and letting you then move it, it just immediately ceases function. Metadata seems to still load in the background, but nothing else on the page can be interacted with.

There’s been a lot of strange functionality issues on the site the past week or two, but this one is the most devastating, since the photo drag is so touchy it’s almost impossible not to drag one by mistake and have to restart the session again.

i just tried adding 10 miscellaneous photos in the upload page and moving them around, and i get no errors.

so when this happens, it’s easy to resolve; left click on one of the images, pick it up and slightly move it away from its observation shell, then let go of the mouse; should then be fixed. This happens sporadically to me

Not this time. I’ve used this fix before, but whatever this new state is, it does not fix it at all.

For fun, on another suggestion, I made 10 tabs of upload and tried this 10 times. On 3 of the pages, there was no issue at all, so I am even more confused how this is happening.

Currently seems like others using chrome do not have this issue, so I’m leaning towards it being something more localized which might also explain why other parts of the site have degraded for me. But it’s weird that you can “fish” for browser tabs where it seems to function fine.
