Chrome URL search uses /taxa/search rather than /search

In Chrome, when I type inaturalist.org then a space, it searches inaturalist.org/taxa instead of via the main search.

For example, if I want to use the Chrome URL to search for CNC related things on iNat,
image
it searches:
https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/search?utf8=✓&q=city+nature+challenge

instead of https://www.inaturalist.org/search?q=city%20nature%20challenge

Not quite a bug per se, but definitely not working the way I expected. Is “which search Chrome uses” something you can set on your end, or are you stuck with where Chrome decides to search?

Do we really have any choices when it comes to Google? ;-)

First, I didn’t know about this feature in Chrome, it’s pretty cool. I’m trying to stick with Firefox and not use Google as much as possible, but Chrome is really good.

Anyhoo, I can’t replicate, I go to https://www.inaturalist.org/search?q=city+nature+challenge. I set up my inat search thusly:

So perhaps we’ve set things up differently?

Thanks! found that setting and changed my browser’s default search. Since this is a user-by-user chrome issue and not an iNat issue, I guess you can try “closing” this topic now?

Very exciting.
