Clicking "x" on observation of the week announcement takes me to an observation I recently viewed

Step 1: I click the “x” on the observation of the week popup (already read it–great post!)

Step 2: iNaturalist thinks for a second.

Step 3: I am redirected to this observation: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/52626005 .

This has also been happening for me, as well. Sometimes it will redirect to the observation of the week, sometimes it does nothing, and sometimes it behaves as described above.

So you clicked on this, correct?

And the announcement still appears on your dashboard, is that correct?

@tiwane - Same for me. I clicked the ‘x’ your arrow points to and instead of closing the announcement it took me to a recently viewed observation instead.

Thanks! Yes, that is what I clicked. It remained on my dashboard for a while–I took the screenshot in between my second and third clicks. It is now gone, after I re-entered the url for my homepage.

Thanks. I can’t replicate either with my own account or a test account. However, when I do click the X to dismiss the announcement, there’s a noticeable pause, which I don’t remember happening before. We’ll take a look.

I’ve also noticed that the X will just take me to the linked page sometimes. Other times it does close. Using Edge.

Using Chrome. Has only happened for the last few announcements. Used to work as intended.

Today - for the latest announcement - X simply opens the announcement.

Was able to replicate today. Tried yesterday and it worked as intended.

Now, I got lead to the most recently viewed observation. The announcement disappeared as intended.
