Connecting observations from Seek to iNat

I have been using Seek for a couple of months and have accumulated quite a few observations (I am not certain some of them are correct). This includes a bunch of things from a vacation to another state, so plants I can’t get to now.
I am trying to see if there is a way to transfer those observations that I already have. It seems like an obvious feature, but I don’t see a way to do it. The only references I could find were from several years ago on the forum.

Is there a way to do this?

No, it’s not possible. Seek is not designed to be a main avenue for posting to iNaturalist, it’s a secondary function.

Well darn. I’ll lose all of those observations. I thought for sure there would be a way to do that.
Is there a plan to increase that functionality?

I’ve barely used Seek so not sure if your photos might be stored on your phone. If that’s the case, you could use those photos to create observations in iNaturalist.

Doubtful as Seek was designed for children.

Hello,
I use seek since march 2023.
From beginning until november 2023 observations were automatically uploaded to iNaturalist.
Now i recognized this.
How can I upload the later observations?

I moved your post to this similar recent topic.

As far as I know this has never been a feature. You have only ever been able to add an observation from Seek to iNaturalist:

  1. when the observation is created in Seek
  2. by manually tapping the Post to iNaturalist button on the new observation screen

It’s not possible to post old Seek observations to iNaturalist.

Thanks for moving my post in this topic.

  1. all my observations are created in seek
  2. I never ever tapped this button for 100% sure. The old observations had been uploaded automatically (or magically, who knows?)

Thanks for your help. So I will transfer to iNaturalist-App now.

Hello deboas,
yes, I can save my older observations in iNaturalist, but for upload the app demands a date, and in the menu I unfortunately can only select month and day, but not the year.
Is there any chance to get the date right?

It might be worth posting a screenshot. Normally the app will take the day month and year from the metadata of the photo, so you shouldn’t need to adjust this manually. But if you need to edit it, the easiest way is via the website.

Hi Deboas,
the app doesn´t take the metadata. The picture itself shows metadata, as I verified.
Via website seems an easy way; sadly the data isn´t there, because I can only save, not upload due to missing date/time.
Maybe I could try via the website in the browser (on the Smartphone).
Currently I try to save/upload via the App.

Interesting. I have never tried editing the year in the app, nor have I tried uploading using the browser on a smartphone, but the website is your best bet here (easier on a laptop or tablet).
