DuckDuckGo not compatible with iNat?

(I don’t believe this belongs in Bug Reports as I would think it’s something on DuckDuckGo’s end, but correct me if I’m wrong)

I’m attempting to divest from Big Tech corporations like Google/Microsoft. I was hoping to use DuckDuckGo as my primary search engine but I was sad to learn that iNat observations don’t seem to load on DDG. The home screen shows up as normal but when I try to click on any individual observation it doesn’t load. It shows the green spinning wheel for a second and then just shows a blank screen (see below screenshot). I tried turning protections off for the site and also sent a report when I first realized this issue a few months ago. Just curious if anyone else has come across this problem and has a workaround! Thanks.

I haven’t had any issues using DuckDuckGo for iNat personally. It has been my primary browser for a few months now.

Are you referring to DuckDuckGo search engine or DuckDuckGo browser?

People can use DuckDuckGo search engine in any browser by going to https://duckduckgo.com

sorry, I meant browser

What operating system and version are you using? Windows 11, MacOS 14, etc

I can view iNaturalist using DDG browser and MacOS 14.

It’s interesting to note that most of the code of the DDG browser (on Windows) comes from Google’s Chromium project and the data for the DDG search engine comes from Microsoft’s Bing engine so without the big companies DDG wouldn’t exist.
