I like to make bird themed digital art, subjects are mostly local species. I was in an Art Nouveau phase for a while.
I suggest an identification: Yellow-rumped Warbler
Oh, I live in Melbourne Australia, and I don’t think that bird is found here. The drawing was actually supposed to be of a New Holland Honeyeater, though I understand why you though it was that warbler, as the proportions and colours are probably a little off. :)
Well, that explains the parrot that was confusing me.
Yes That’s a Crimson Rosella I’ll finish one day. Saw it years ago in my garden, just once.
Okay, as requested:
Here is a simpler one, just pencil:
One more:
… nor did it have separate fingers or backwards-facing toes (the feet were hoof-like) or a snake-like neck ;P (just giving you a hard time, I love reconstructions that take creative liberties)
Drawing is everything, though mostly it’s just a thing to waste energy, so I don’t have much to show, there’s little (none) finished stuff, some of those are icons of iNat projects and one silly bird.)

Hey there,
I went across this thread https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/for-those-of-you-who-are-visual-artists-do-you-like-to-draw-paint-anything-from-nature/33808?page=2 wanted to share some of my art pieces, but couldn’t reply there. So started a new thread.
I am sharing some of my art pieces which I wood burned
welcome to the forum; I reopened the topic and merged your post into it
great art!
These are incredible!
Since I began to draw when I was like 8, I would constantly draw birds. I had this chunky encyclopedia of birds of the world, I would close my eyes and flip through to a random entry and draw the bird in my cartoonish style.
Since then, I have expanded out into realism birds and insects and do studies of other animals’ anatomy, like snakes and otters, for personal projects.
Like that’s a section of one of my latest and best works to date. I love using colouring pencil. The details and preciseness you can get out of it is the best.
However, one thing I like to pride myself on is my anthropomorphized insect worldbuilding project, where I play around with different bugs and see how they would fit into a fantasy sort of setting.
This one was just where I got a random bug family off some online generator and picked as randomly as I could a bug from iNat, and I got Mellinus arvensis. This was mainly an exercise and me trying to stem off of usual bugs like butterflies and scarabs an design the anatomy of a different family.
And so I tried to design them as a sentient sort of person (if that’s even the right word) and came out with this after a TON of studies. Here she is holding a poor unfortunate fly in a bag. I mean, a bug’s gotta eat to live. :P
Wow, that’s awesome!
I especially love it when it’s not photo realistic, and you can see some of the artist’s style intermingled into it, giving it that extra bit of charm. :)
I handdrew this art with the help of a wood burning kit and a little bit of knowledge from pyrography from blogs like: pyrogravure.org, burnsavvy, pyrocrafters .
i wouldn’t say what i draw is inspired by what i see, necessarily, but i do draw animals !
