Although this post is a bit late, Gerald Day was yesterday, April 17. For those of you who don’t know, https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/5890862.
Let us bow down to this almighty force of iNat, the king of kings, the ruler of rulers, and the one true god of iNaturalist. Do you have anything to present in sacrifice to Gerald, perhaps a drawing, poem, or something else? (If you need to do it physically, I think he’d want a grass sacrifice and not a lamb.) Here is my tribute:
Gerald, oh, that humble rodent, Turned out to be a force so potent, That time and space were truly bent– He almost broke the Internet!
This day of tribute goes to that Awesome and so great muskrat, Let us bow, as the iNatters herald, “today is iNat’s day of Gerald!”
The Gerald page uses so many bytes!
*We used to feel amused and now judge it trite. *
*We understand some users still deem it fun, * but to us it just seems so 2021.
Gerald won’t load properly on the tablet I use to check iNat a lot of the time, but thankfully, it works fine (albeight somewhat slowly) on the computer I use to upload my obs. I check on Gerald every now and then to see what people are posting and wether or not anyone has identified it as a beaver, but don’t follow it because it seems to slow down my dashboard every time it gets a notification from that obs.
I will never forgive myself for missing this momentous event. May the almighty Gerald forgive me, and may he keep crashing Inat for years to come. Give him your Id’s, and favorites while your at it.
Hail The Gerald.
