How to change the order of the photos

How to re-order photos?

I go to “edit” observation, then select “re-order photos”. They show up vertically and with empty boxes to the left. Boxes are labeled “position”.

What are the acceptable tags to put in these boxes?

Also, is there a cheat sheet url that summarizes shortcuts and tips?

Thank you!

Simply put numbers in the boxes. Put “1” in the box for the photo you want first and so on.

Thank you.

Actually, it seems to go by the coder’s convention that “0” indicates the photo that you want first.

I’ve always put “1” in the box for the photo I wanted first, and that worked. I tried using “0” on one of my observations just now, and that also worked.

I think it puts them in numerical order. You could label them 10,20,30

Let’s say I uploaded 20 photos. I just want to lock the positions of first, last, and the third. Would I enter 1,3,20 or 0,2,19?

i.e. How does the system automatically assign a sorting tag?

If I have previously reordered photos by entering numbers from 1, and then try to change them, I have often had difficulties I am unable to analyse. One thing that I have found is that in that situation the 0 can become essential. And I think it may be necessary to replace digits being corrected, rather than just erasing… but can’t confirm that. I only came to this thread to find some answers, not because I have them :)

I would choose the pictures I want to be 1, 2 and 3.

It would be awesome if there were some kind of drag-and-drop feature. Reordering by entering numbers doesn’t seem so efficient, especially if there are multiple images.

I don’t think you can only choose to “lock” some of the photos, you need to number them all in the order you would like or nothing would change. When you initially submit the observation, It seems to number them in the order they are in at that time starting with zero.
The number you start with doesn’t seem to matter.
If you number them 9,24,7 the order of display would be 7,9,14

Not true.
You can pick That One to be number one - and rest will follow in their previous order.
