Incorrect Location Displayed for Paranaíta on Map

Please fill out the following sections to the best of your ability, it will help us investigate bugs if we have this information at the outset. Screenshots are especially helpful, so please provide those if you can.

Platform (Android, iOS, Website): Website

App version number, if a mobile app issue (shown under Settings or About):

Browser, if a website issue (Firefox, Chrome, etc) : Chrome

URLs (aka web addresses) of any relevant observations or pages:
Paranaíta – Wikipédia, a enciclopédia livre

Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.):

  • Open the map platform or tool where the issue is being observed.
  • Use the search or “Explore” function to look for the municipality Paranaíta, located in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil.
  • Observe that the search result shows a rectangular area (possibly just the urban area) instead of the full municipal region.
  • Note that the location shown on the map appears to be incorrect or misplaced—it is not aligned with the actual geographic position of Paranaíta.
  • Cross-reference the coordinates with those found on the Portuguese Wikipedia page for Paranaíta:
    https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranaíta
  • Notice that instead of showing Paranaíta, the map highlights or links to the region of Paranatinga, which is a different municipality also in the state of Mato Grosso.
  • Confirm that this mismatch may cause confusion or errors in data referencing or geographic identification.
  • The map should display the correct location and boundaries for Paranaíta, and the search should not confuse it with Paranatinga. Coordinates should align with verified sources like Wikipedia or IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).

Known issue with the provider iNat uses for Brazil locations

We did swap out the US data in GADM with the the official US Census Tiger data and the Mexican data in GADM with the official Mexican INEGI data because they differed slightly and constiuents within the iNat community felt strongly that we integrated these official government versions.
