My city does not appear in filter search

São José do Egito, Pernambuco, Brasil.
All nearby cities do appear, like Brejinho, Itapetim and Tabira. Why mine does not?

It is a known issue with the database iNat uses for the localities in Brazil and some other places.

Many localities in Brazil are affected and it is not an easy fix, apparently.

if your city isn’t in the system, you can always add it yourself. some governments have administrative boundaries available online (usually in an open data or GIS portal), but if not, you can usually extract them from OpenStreetMap, or else you can draw boundaries yourself. if you have questions about adding a place, please let us know where you’re running into problems.
